Some maternity sessions stay with you forever, and this one has never left my mind. Perhaps one of the best sessions I’ve ever done where everything just lined up so beautifully, like the sun acting like a paid actor all evening.

I mean, look at this lighting! She reminds me of Princess Aurora, aka, sleeping beauty.

This beautiful couple made the five hour drive to Golden, BC for their maternity photos, and from the moment we met, I knew it was going to be something special. Their excitement about welcoming their little one was evident in every interaction, but what struck me most was the way they looked at each other. There was such a quiet reverence between them. Gentle, intentional, and completely effortless. You could feel how deeply they loved one another without a single word being spoken. We chose a quiet location with 360 degree mountain views, and where the sun sets in the middle between them. It’s one of the most picturesque locations in Golden, and boy did it ever deliver. One of my favourite parts of this session was incorporating a few outfit changes. Starting with a sheer gauze robe that filtered the sunlight, creating a beautiful silhouette of her growing bump, before transitioning into a more intimate look that gave us incredible variety throughout the gallery. Each outfit brought out a different side of their personalities while still feeling timeless, elegant, and true to them. The changing light throughout golden hour also meant that every location had its own unique mood, making the final gallery feel rich and diverse without ever feeling repetitive.

The couple drove into town before our time together and stopped at Golden Floral co. to have her create one of the most beautiful bouquets I’ve ever seen.

Their chemistry made my job incredibly easy. Some couples naturally melt into one another, and these two were exactly that. Every embrace, touch, laugh, and quiet moment was authentic rather than posed, and instead of directing every movement, I found myself simply stepping back and documenting what unfolded naturally between them.

As the sun dipped, it turned ultra warm and glowy, so I had them cuddle up on a blanket I had brought, and what happened next felt like it came straight out of a fairytale.

Looking back through these images years later, they still take my breath away. They remind me that maternity photography isn't simply about documenting a growing baby bump. It's about preserving a fleeting chapter of life. The anticipation, the excitement, the tenderness, and the incredible love that already exists before a baby ever arrives.
