My Top 8 choices (14 if you count each individually) of places to stay while visiting Golden, BC. Golden has absolutely no shortage of places to stay, though they do tend to book up very quickly, especially in the summer and winter months.
Why stay in Golden? It is much cheaper than staying in Banff, less crowds, and more to do. Golden is surrounded by 6 national parks: Yoho, Glacier, Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, and Mount Revelstoke.
In this blog post, I’m going to be talking specifically about my favourite local air bnbs that I’ve personally stepped foot in, or know and trust the folks that run them.
Let’s get started. These are listed in no particular order.
The Lazy Elk
This beautiful 3500sq foot log cabin is located on 16 acres of untouched forest complete with trails to explore, and sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms. Located just 15 minutes outside town limits, it’s quiet and peaceful so you can truly soak in the 360 degree mountain views. Complete with a hot tub (complete with the most amazing mountain views), wood stove, games room, washer and dryer, and BBQ, the Lazy Elk is ready to host you and your friends for your unforgettable holiday to Golden, BC and the 6 national parks that surround it. Perfect for groups, families, or even romantic getaways for those wanting a little more space. I’m also happy to report that this is pet friendly!! (Maximum of two furry friends).

The hosts who care. Andy and Charlotte are very hospitable and often have a few local goodies waiting for your arrival! They’re always willing to answer any questions you may have. Dedicated to the climate, they have also have aimed to neutralize the carbon footprint that comes with tourism by planting trees through tentree, and choosing renewable fuels for heat. They’ve also built their own eco home on the property. Talk about dedication.
I have personally been to the lodge to photograph their sweet family and was blown away by the property and spacious lodge.
Located right in Golden, you can’t beat the convenience of this two bedroom lower suite. It’s bright and airy, cozy but spacious, and perfect for families with young children who want easy access to a park, pump track, swimming pool/splash park, skateboard park, basketball court and a grocery store. Live music, farmers market, and night life is just a short walk as well.
One bedroom has a queen bed, and the 2nd bedroom is outfitted with a king, for those who like their space, and/or who have young barnacles, I mean, children. I found the little kids table to be a sweet touch, as well as addition of kids books and toys. The suite is decorated cleanly and minimally, but with plenty of natural textures, sweet artwork, and living plants.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make strong coffee or lattes, prepare home cooked meals or make some cool drinks.
The bathroom is stocked with essentials, and the suite has it’s own laundry (absolutely essential when you have kids, or after a long day biking/skiing/sledding).

For the adventurous spirits, dawn mountain developments sits on a massive dog-friendly 40 acre property located just 5 minutes from the epic Golden skybridge, and 15 minutes from downtown Golden.

The Granny suite-
Enjoy this cozy suite on the ground floor of our family log home. Remote and quiet (aside from our rambunctious children) . The Granny Suite has its own private entrance, in floor heating, a walk in closet, a private bathroom with heated towel rack, and a kitchenette. There is a king size bed, two stools at the breakfast bar and two sitting chairs in the living space. We are happy to provide a playpen for infants/toddlers.

The Kings Wood- the Wren
Welcome to The Wren at The Kingswood Golden, a modern luxury cabin set within 38 acres of pristine forest at the base of Mount Kapristo, approximately 20 minutes south of Golden, and 30 minutes from Kicking Horse Mountain resort. There are two bedrooms. One fitted with a King sized bed, and the other with a queen with twin bunk on top. Both are equipped with ENDY mattresses for your comfort. There is also a pullout double sofa bed in the living room. The Wren sleeps up to 7 guests. Sorry- absolutely no pets in this one.

Modern Mountain Suite
Quick fact about me. I spent my time over the slow season cleaning Airbnbs, which is why I have firsthand experience with most of these. When I stepped foot into this suite, I was blown away at the style. Cozy but modern with higher-end looking fixtures, light and airy with beautiful windows. and even more gorgeous mountain views. This suite has 2 bedrooms that sleeps 3 guests. Sorry, absolutely no pets.
One of my favourite additions is the plethora of live plants. It really livens the place up and feels immersive and jungle-y (is that a word? It is now).
This suite is located directly beside a park for young kids, and located near the river path and pedestrian bridge leading to downtown. It’s quiet and convenient and perfect for those who want a little more luxury with your stay.
Fully stocked with several coffee paraphernalia (coffee bar with coffee beans, grinder, drip coffee maker, french press, Nespresso, Keurig and pour-over carafe, sugars and coffee whitener provided as well as an assortment of teas.
The living area has comfortable seating, extra blankets, books, games and a toasty warm gas fireplace to make you feel at home. Also, a Smart TV complete with a full cable package (news, sports, movies & entertainment). There is also access to your favourite apps ie: Netflix, Prime, Paramount +, Pluto and more.
Twin Peaks A-frame cabins
Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. This brand new 600sq ft A-frame Cabin is just 7 minutes drive from the centre of Golden.
Nestled amongst trees and overlooking the Purcell mountain range in a neighbourhood setting. With a queen sized comfy bed in a loft, this spacious but cozy cabin is Ideal for a couple or one person.
We are situated in a mountain valley and close to the CPKC train track that runs through the mountains. While it doesn’t make much noise or stop you may hear it go by from time to time.

Named after the famous champagne powder at Kicking Horse Mountain, you can’t beat this downtown location. Champagne peaks is a private condo with 2 bedrooms and sleeps up to 6, for those who want easy walking to grocery stores, downtown, restaurants and nightlife. Located less than a minute away from both Whitetooth Brewing co. AND The Stolen Bell distillery, you can have that “one more beer”.
The modern interior includes clean lines, natural light, and comfortable spaces. Enjoy the open-concept space with fully equipped kitchen, dining area and living room with fireplace and flatscreen television. The spacious outdoor deck boasts a gorgeous mountain view.
The kitchen is stocked with Kicking Horse coffee, assorted teas, coffee creamer, spices, oil & vinegar and basic cooking necessities while the bathroom has High end shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Robes and slippers are available to use.

The Blaeberry base is a collection of unique stays located approximately 10 minutes from the heart of Golden, each with their own character. Tucked away on a quiet residential road, just 5 minutes from the highway. Please note, once you turn off the highway, there is little to zero cell phone service.
There are 4 airbnbs located on this 3 acre property, however, privacy is easy to obtain and it is requested that you respect each other’s space.
The sauna is FCFS and private when in use.
